PWA Saturday Night Sizzle
February 17, 2007
Colorado Springs, Colorado
The World Arena
Brock Lesnar strutted to the ring, with a smug sense of satisfaction. He says that he outsmarted Sting, and now he has the chance to choose the match where he could have the best advantage. Therefore, at CitySlam I, on March 2, it will be Sting defending the PWA World Heavyweight Championship against Brock Lesnar in a TEXAS DEATH MATCH!
To open up the broadcast, Kenny Dykstra (w/ Johnny Nitro) defeated Brother Ray in 11:44 with the Guillotine Legdrop. Nitro played the determining factor in this match, as he was able to distract Ray who didn’t have Devon with him. Devon arrived too late, but it doesn’t seem as if this the last we’ll see of these four.
President Reed Smith announces that Dykstra and Nitro will meet Team 3-D at CitySlam. He also announces a battle royal at CitySlam for the PWA All-Star Championship.
Jack O’Riley defeated Avery Andrews in 8:24 with the Pot of Gold. Andrews’ fondness for fitness didn’t help him here. O’Riley manhandled him. It seems that no one is going to get up from the Pot of Gold. Can Finlay do it?
Mike Knox defeated Doink The Clown in 12:42 with the Whip It. King Kong Bundy made his presence known by nearly smashing Doink into the ring steps, but Eugene tried to make the save for his friend, but it failed as Bundy got the best of him too. Doink and Bundy will settle this score at CitySlam.
Backstage, Bert Schnick asks The Ultimate Maniacs if the style of Rob Van Dam and Matt Hardy worries them. Warrior’s response is that it doesn’t matter what style RVD or Matt Hardy has, it is simply a matter of madness combining with destrucity in order to overcome all odds.
In a Semi-Final match in the PWA World Tag Team Title Tournament, The Ultimate Maniacs (Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior) defeated Rob Van Dam and Matt Hardy in 8:46 when Savage pinned Hardy with the Flying Elbowdrop. RVD hit the Rolling Thunder on Warrior, who didn’t feel it, then took RVD out of the match. It was cut and dry from there on. Savage and Warrior will fight for the PWA World Tag Team Titles at CitySlam I.
In the other Semi-Final match in the tournament, Taka Michinoku and Shannon Moore defeated Lance Storm and Dean Malenko in 6:53 when Moore pinned Storm after a flying forearm. Storm seemed surprised that Moore had pinned him. Malenko and Storm just smiled and offered their hands in friendship which Michinoku and Moore gladly accepted.
We now know that Taka Michinoku and Shannon Moore will face The Ultimate Maniacs for the PWA World Tag Team Titles. Moore and Michinoku have said not to underestimate them, and they have backed up their words so far. Will it lead them to gold? Find out at CitySlam.
In the main event, Brock Lesnar & King Booker defeated Sting and Steve Austin in 13:35 when Booker pinned Austin after the Scissor Kick. This match seemed more like two singles matches rather than a tag match. Sting and Lesnar fought throughout the match. Booker seemed to hurt himself going for the Scissor Kick, but it landed anyway. Booker needed help getting to the back. We’ll have more on this as we get it in.
Next week on Sizzle…one last show before CitySlam, and we’ll be in Grand Island, Nebraska.
We have been given word that Kurt Angle has asked for some interview time plus…
Randy Savage Vs. Shannon Moore
Eugene Vs. King Kong Bundy
Tune in. Same Sizzling Time. Same Sizzling Channel.
